I believe that before birth, when we are still in the womb, we are enveloped in the light of motherly love.
This light, with its power and warmth, wards off any hardships we might encounter.
Then, when we are actually born into the world, we are detached from this light.
The world we come into is a place of love, but of darkness as well. Children who have become detached from the light retain the memory of the loving warmth of the womb, and consequently fear this darkness.
When I was young I was very fearful of the dark. I had no idea why, but this vague fear of darkness persisted during my childhood. But then, when I got interested in art and started to draw pictures with light, this fear of the dark disappeared. This was because I began to realize that this light that enveloped me in the womb also existed elsewhere.
It is my wish that children and adults alike will familiarize themselves with the "light" in my art and move toward it to dissolve their fears.
